 | Satsuma ware is defined by its highly decorated design accentuated with gold. The adroitness and prudence of Japanese craftsmen is evident in this uniquely Japanese art, mesmerizing all viewers without end. There are several schools of Satsuma ware, including Kyo-satsuma, Kobe-satsuma and Yokohama-satsuma. Each of them are characterized by the same intricate and bold gold ornamentation, but emit distinctively different impressions. Shown here are works of the more graceful among the various styles, Kyo-Satsuma.
